Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 28, 2026

This policy explains what Auspex collects and how it’s used. It is a general template tailored to Auspex, not legal advice — have a qualified attorney review it before relying on it, and fill in the bracketed items.

1. Our approach

Auspex is built to need as little of your data as possible. The free experience works with no account, and most of what you enter stays on your device. Critically, your results, plans, and insights are computed locally from public labor-market data — we do not send your information to any third-party AI/LLM service.

2. What we collect

  • Without an account: your quiz answers are encoded in the page URL (value weights and archetype only — no personal identifiers). Details you enter — skills, finances, test scores, location — are stored in your browser’s local/session storage and are not sent to us.
  • With an account: your email address and authentication data (handled by our provider, Supabase), plus any plans, progress, profile details, or documents (e.g. a resume you build) that you choose to save or sync.
  • Payments: if you subscribe to Pro, billing is processed by Stripe. We receive and store only your subscription status and identifiers — never your full card number.
  • If you submit your email for updates or a saved plan, we store that email to contact you about the Service.
  • Technical data: standard server logs and, if enabled, privacy-respecting usage analytics to keep the Service reliable.

3. How we use your data

To provide and improve the Service; to save and sync your plans when you have an account; to process subscriptions; to provide support; to secure the Service and prevent abuse; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Service providers we share with

  • Supabase — authentication and database storage for accounts.
  • Stripe — subscription payments and billing.
  • Vercel — hosting and content delivery.

Public data sources (O*NET, College Scorecard, BLS) are read on our servers to power the catalog; your personal data is not sent to them. These providers process data on our behalf under their own terms and security commitments.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use cookies and browser storage for essential functions — keeping you signed in and remembering your preferences and on-device inputs. We don’t use them for cross-site advertising.

6. Data retention & deletion

On-device data lives only in your browser; clearing your browser storage removes it. Account data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing hello@auspex.app; we will delete it within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for legal or billing purposes.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to opt out of certain uses. To exercise these, contact us at the email above. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (including encryption in transit and access controls through our providers) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

9. Children

Auspex is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Your data may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate. By using the Service you consent to this transfer, subject to applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy; the “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version, and we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
